Ecological Pedagogies in Schools of Architecture and Landscape: From a Marginal Movement to a Major Issue

This article analyzes the relationship between ecology and pedagogy in French schools of architecture and landscape architecture. It traces the long development of ecology's integration into these schools, while also highlighting the new impetus provided by the establishment of teacher networks focused on these themes since the 2000s. It also examines the influence of societal, economic, and political shifts toward environmentalism on architectural education. Finally, by reviewing the activities of the EnsaÉco scientific and educational network, it describes the evolution of teaching about the ecological transition, both in terms of content and pedagogical methods.
