At the forefront of BIM

The adoption of BIM by the various professionals in the vast field of architecture and construction is only just beginning. BIM is integrated to varying degrees depending on whether one is dealing with architects, engineers, project managers, construction companies, or other trades within the building and public works sector, but it is already a field of research and a subject of teaching. In this context, we will explore the latest advances in BIM within engineering schools, universities, and companies concerned with research findings. This book features, among others, the architect comparing their sketch to BIM, the engineer seeking the best system design methodology, the asset manager looking to apply BIM to building maintenance and operation, the urban planner who, using a BIM approach, wants to create a digital model of a street for their finite element thermal analysis, software publishers offering methods and tools to make BIM accessible to construction companies, computer scientists creating algorithms to model urban expansion, and, of course, all BIM users seeking to combine interoperability and responsiveness. For the fourth edition of the Digital Modeling and BIM Teaching Days (EDUBIM), a program committee representing French academic and professional research on BIM selected contributions from researchers to compile this book, coordinated by Nader Boutros and Régine Teulier. Publication date: July 5, 2018.
