The theoretical aim of this research is the reconstruction of the cognitive universe of cathedral builders. This first volume deals with the complex geometric figure at the origin of the emergence not only of the Gothic architectural form stricto sensu but perhaps also of most or all of the other aesthetic expressions of medieval civilization from the 12th to the end of the 15th century.
