You said platform

Welcome to the world of platforms! Towards hyperconnectivity... While seemingly a catch-all term, "platform" is far more precise than it appears. How many times a day do we use an app on our phones that isn't dedicated to a platform? Has the platform become a model for thinking and organizing, producing and disseminating, and also for understanding and interpreting the world today? A platform is a "flat surface": how precise and vast this definition is! The multiplicity of configurations and uses also makes this word a symptom of the constant, perhaps reckless, pursuit of diversification, renewal, and multiplication of the objects that surround us and the organizations that govern our lives—economically, politically, culturally, daily, and even intimately. By immersing ourselves in this world equipped with platforms, are we really so far removed from the archaic forms of human settlement? Are the techniques of the past, as they structured our modes of action until recently, merely an extension of them? Is this an illusion of novelty that only benefits a voracious consumer strategy, with, amidst all this, supposedly more virtuous, more "intelligent" uses in the truest sense of the word? Finally, we must consider what appear to be the first, yet already numerous, transformations in the ways we form our contemporary human settlements. This is indeed an architectural perspective: but what is the architectural gaze we wish to discuss here? Not a specialty, an activity, or a professional body of knowledge, but a strategic component of the feeling of inhabiting a place, a particular way of establishing ourselves here and there, of occupying a space, a time.
