The ecological emergency is revolutionizing the world of architecture.

by imposing a profound reassessment of design methods and

construction that developed throughout the 20th century.

Modern and postmodern thought developed alongside the growth of industry and technology in a world that was difficult to perceive as finite. The rise of concrete and metal, the continuous construction of new cities, and the belief that energy and growth could be limitless led to the creation of a series of architectural signs and languages that came to define the 20th century.

Today, more than at a turning point in history, we are experiencing a paradigm shift. On the one hand, the finite nature of physical and energy resources is leading us towards a logic of degrowth, sobriety, and low-impact construction.

Even as the increase in the world's population poses a challenge to degrowth and also calls into question our models.

This observation leads us to question how this situation impacts architectural production and the development of its systems. Ecology, while transforming architectural forms, can be a powerful driver of formal innovation and the search for new languages.
